Raging Bull

is the Taurus raging bull 44 mag a good gun?

i just bot the Taurus raging bull 44 mag can any one tell me about the gun and if it is a good gun for hog hunting?, i might also hunt deer with it, and what can i expect from this gun?, what is a good load to shoot? and how accurate the gun is if you have not actually shot the gun please don't answer

I have a Taurus Raging Bull that is chambered for the .454 Casull cartridge. I like it very much and have found it to be a well made gun. The .44 mag. cartridge is a good hog cartridge as well as a good deer cartridge.

If you have fired a .44 revolver, you wil know what to expect. The Raging Bull is a relatively heavy handgun and has a muzzle break and will have less recoil than other handguns that are chambered for the .44 mag round. Still, it will have a significant but manageable recoil as well as a significant muzzle blast. When shooting heavy recoiling rounds such as the .44 mag, I like to wear shooting gloves that have some padding in the palm. They help me have better control of the gun during recoil. My personal preference is the fingerless ones that leave the tips of my fingers sticking out so that I can handle the cartridges better

The best load for hogs will be one that is relatively "hot" and has a bullet that will penetrate deeply before expanding. A hollow point will be a bad choice for hogs because of the tough hide and protective shield of gristle over the front of their shoulders. You need a deep penetrating bullet to get through this. A hollow point will be appropriate for deer because they are a relatively thin skinned animal and the bullet needs to expand quickly or it will penetrate completely though the animal without expanding fully.

I have found the accuracy of my Raging Bull to be quite good. I would expect the same thing from your .44 mag.
