Trail Shoes

If I run about 2-3 times a week, about 3-5 miles per time, can I buy TRAIL RUNNING shoes?

Trail running shoes are on sale.
Sometimes I run outside, on trails, but only about 15 times a year. Otherwise, on the treadmill.

Can I get the trail shoes and be OK?

Or, are Cross Training shoes better for me?

(Sometimes I cross train.)

You can, if you don't mind how they feel. They are a bit heavier than road running shoes. The soles are nobbier and more aggressive than road running shoes. They are designed to grip the earth as you run and have rock shields to protect your feet. It may feel a little funny on your feet. Otherwise its okay to run in them. But since you do run on trail a bit, you will love them. Perhaps, you may even want to run in the trails more...

I have specific running shoes for specific runs. Trails (which I run in at least 5-6 months of the year and road running shoes for all those running days in between. In the winter, I wear my trail shoes on the road when there is snow. I found they really work great in snow.

So, go for it. (ask if you could run around the store into the streets so you could get the feel for them.)
